Um, well, if those chips were once sold then they are still out there in the wild. Just because an enterprise gets swallowed by another one, that doesn't mean all the chips vanish.
And if the driver was okay once, and the logic was working with the chip, it should be fine for the next thousand years.
However, the changelog said something like "* sm665 driver removed as unsupportable and long since obsolete" which might hint that there never was complete documentation?

There was a link to datasheets in the driver source file, but they resolve now to qualcomm; judging from the driver history it was only ever used by Ericsson. Guenter submitted it while at Ericsson in 2010, but since then there were no feature updates or bug fixes, probably because Guenter was the only user and now he has no more test hardware, so it looks like getting rid of it won't inconvenience anyone.
