yes its a good card already
but it should perform above r7 260x in every test

Meh, my perspective is exact opposite. For $179 I have an AMD Rx 480 that is supported out of the box in Fedora 25. No separate drivers to install, it "just works". Rx 480 has more GFLOPS of performance than a GTX 1060, for almost $100 lower price. Win-win.

I would have agreed with you a few years ago, but the open source AMD drivers have really come a LONG way in recently. My Rx 480 card delivers silky smooth frame rates in every Steam title I own @ 1080p. And its only going to get better, as the AMDGPU driver continues to mature. Sure in benchmarks, NVidia performs better, but can your eyes tell the difference between 150 fps on AMD vs. 180 fps on NVidia? Mine can't. For $179, I have no complaints whatsoever. Plus I feel good supporting a vendor who supports open source drivers.

I'm not a big gamer but do enjoy games like Civ6.
I'd like to explore programming on graphics cards.
Everyday advantage (as compared with nvidia) is that AMD will "just work" in most cases with the newest distros. No need to download or install drivers, no need to recompile kernel modules, etc. My Rx480 was plug-n-play with Fedora 25, being able to immediately start Steam and play all my games at 1080p with excellent performance.

OSS OpenCL 1.1 works fine with LuxMark 2.0 better than ever (Turks XT/HD 6670 before).
          #scenes/sala: 2201, Time: 121sec, Samples/sec 2201K, Rays/sec 20482K on 488.5K tris !!!
          #scenes/room: 975, Time: 124sec, Samples/sec 975K, Rays/sec 8049K on 2016.7K
But LuxMark v3.0 sig fault and
LuxMark v3.1 throws '2017-05-07 02:56:37 - RUNTIME ERROR: PathOCLBase kernel compilation error',
          with current libclc/Mesa git.
With (little) work you can get AMDGPU-PRO OpenCL libs installed on your system and use it with OSS radeonsi.
          But this for another night...

          Cheers,
          Dieter
OSS OpenCL 1.1 (clinfo taken from AMDGPU-PRO) ;-)
Bugs with LuxMark v3.0 and v3.1 still as above.
