  • VDPAU : HDTV and Blu Ray ?

I have two questions, one of which(blu ray) probably isn't yet answerable.

Does or will VDPAU offload for blu ray the way it does for DVD?

And how about for those of us out here who have HDTV cards? does VDPAU do what it does when you have an ATSC stream coming in the door?

    Just curious.

Yes to both. Keep in mind that the bluray has to be decrypted though.

(In case anybody is wondering it will also handle IPTV HD streams, no tuner required, just an extra nic and some creative mac spoofing and routing.)

Well, assuming there's no encryption, it's more of a codec support issue anyway, isn't it? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC_Standards seems to hint towards ATSC using MPEG2 or h.264/MPEG-4 as video codecs and apparently A/52 as audio codec)

Ya as long as there is no encryption (which for terrestrial signals should not be encrypted, cable can be encrypted though).
