Also, just commenting in general here, but a lot of us have workstations where the longest part of the boot up chain is the system initializing. It takes around 20 seconds after I power on for my system to do its pre-boot checks, another 5 seconds with GRUB, 5 at the password prompt, and the OS is finally booting. Oh, that's my "Fast Boot"
While these little fixes and speedups help, they don't fix, and will never fix, the real weak link in the chain -- systems with molasses based firmware.
