VLC with opengl output still crashes, XVideo is blocky and funky colored, 2d rendering speed is still slow...

Oh noes! They broke teh glxgears!

      glxgears is broken

And because it's so beautiful in fullscreen:

XV looks ugly as noted in the release notes. At least compiz seems to work well. Only the unminimizing of windows is a bit slow. I don't know what else is fixed or broken. Let's wait and see.

All this on AMD64, Xorg 1.4 and a HD 2600 XT card.

        Two things.

First, the Windows platform?! Like 3.11, 3.95, and Me?

Second, have you ever tried to sort in 3.10 in after 3.9 in a directory?! It is a lot easier with a 3.09.

This fish has a brand new bicycle!

The fglrx driver will remain a useless waste of my laptop's disk space until this bug is fixed:

On workstation hardware 3D applications will be corrupted if the screen width is not an integer multiple of 64 pixels, for example with a 1680x1050 wide screen display. Further details can be found in topic number 737-31720

Is the workaround described in the tech note not working for you ?

              I haven't tried the workaround...

The laptop is basically for playing OpenGL games (fullscreen), so the last thing I want to do is either stretch or squash the screen.

Great 8.02 still doesn't work with my mobility 9700
[fglrx:firegl_cmmqs_init] *ERROR* CMMQS initialization is failed.

                  It doesn't squash the screen:
                  ~$ xrandr
                  Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1400 x 1050, maximum 1408 x 1050
                  default connected 1400x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm
                  1400x1050 60.0*
                  1360x768 60.0
                  1280x1024 60.0
                  1280x960 60.0
                  1280x768 60.0
                  1152x864 60.0
                  1024x768 60.0
                  848x480 60.0
                  800x600 60.0
                  640x480 60.0
                  640x400 60.0
                  512x384 60.0
                  400x300 60.0
                  320x240 60.0
                  320x200 60.0
                  1408x1050 60.0

So my screen display is very much set to 1400x1050, in every conceivable way. It's just now a 1408x1050 option exists I'm not using. For whatever dumb reason, this makes 3D work fine, and let's me keep the panel at native resolution.

Virtual 1408 1050 works for me.

Well, almost, I get screen corruption in the lower right hand corner and with the cursor when I try a fullscreen 3D application at 1400x1050... sadly including compiz.

And my Gutsy T60p still won't suspend.

One further edit, if you do get the corruption on screen, the *only* two ways I've found of clearing it up again are:
-rebooting (not cool, restarting X, reloading fglrx, all that does nothing)
-strangely (thankfully) if I go into amdccle and go to display manager, and click 'identify displays', it cleans up the cursor and lower right corner corruption

Very cool release for the Mobility Radeon X700, on my acer aspire 1692 Wlmi with Ubuntu gutsy (doesn't work with hardy ...).

Google Earth is still blinking, but progress has been made, especially for firefox usability.

                    Cool !
