9.1 fails to allocate pcie memory

One a 2.6.28.2 kernel & X.Org X Server 1.5.3 with 8.12 I get:

on the same kernel with 9.1 It gives me:

DIffing the logs show that these are the first differences between the working 8.12 log and the failing 9.1 log are the above lines with the exception of lines reporting differing versions of the ati driver.

The hardware it an asus m3a78t with bios 5 (790Gx chipset).

What else is needed to resolve this (should I send this report somewhere else)?

That sure doesn't look right. Could I ask you to file a bugzilla ticket with a title something like :

(EE) fglrx(0): [pcie] Failed to gather memory of size 0Kb for PCIe. Error (-1)

Did you delete

rm /etc/ati/amdpcsdb

before testing the new driver? When you use packageing this is usually not erased.

I have the same error with my ubuntu 8.10 with 2.6.28-6 kernel.
2D Acceleration seems to work.

I have a Gigabyte Board with 780G chipset.

I verified that the ebuild installs a new version of this file. I did have to build a kernel with MSI enabled which seems to break the kernel's nmi_watchdog=1 parm... The updated kernel handles 8.12 just fine. With 9.1 X refuses to start at all.

I too am seeing this error. Can't even begin to describe how sad it made me that 9.1 doesn't even LOAD... I had used the 8.12 drivers and they sorta work... Completely hang my desktop 2 or 3 times a day though. I've used linux at work on and off for years, and finally thought I'd take the plunge at home, and am shocked at just how far behind linux is when it come to graphics HW driver support. Nvidia may be slightly better, though my father has had pretty similar issues with a recent Nvidia system as well.

I have an ARock 790GX board running Ubuntu 8.10(64 Bit).
