Oh god how I wished "The GNU Linux-libre 3.14-gnu Ultra-Free Kernel" was the actual name.

          whats the point of this?
stallman trying to fork the kernel to make it more "free"?
i dont see how removing drivers would help :P

In order for there to be a 'middle', both sides need to exist to their fullest extent. This concept transcends individuals like RMS.

            I applaud their efforts.

              Now with 20% more freedom!

I'm glad this exists, as it's an important stance. But I would be more glad if Linus agreed to move to GPLv3: tivoization -- which very often uses Linux -- in the long run is a far more alarming attack on our freedoms than a few chip vendors refusing to ship free drivers.

This came up often times now, he simply can't, since he isn't the sole copyright owner of the kernel.

could you explain just what you mean by this? The guesses I'm coming up with don't make much sense because I don't see the point you're getting at.
