The real challenge will be getting some package maintainers to create the EPEL 9 branch in a timely fashion such that when EL9 formally releases EPEL 9 will have the packages people want to have available (not every packager has time to maintain EPEL branches, and to this day there are still some packagers that have not yet offered EPEL 8 branches even when requested, and a few have even slow walked others willing to co-maintain, although there is a process to bypass those packagers if absolutely necessary as a last resort). And I would be remiss if I did not mention that for at least some packagers the entire stream pivot has dissuaded them from working on CentOS related activities.
