I mean, they could afford losing tons of cash to get the XBOX to turn a profit, and the XBOX was THEIR PRODUCT.
What you are asking is to get hundred-million-dollar-companies to even care about small markets. They have already enough issues to stay afloat in Windows market.
Sure, making a linux-port-friendly game isn't that hard in theory and they could probably do so for cheap, but to get the leadership to even consider this you need a bit more than "wow it would be cool".
