Um, they are both frameworks to manage your video collection.

VAAPI accelerates video playback (typically using GPU hardware), stdlib is the C standard library. Neither manage video collections.

gstreamer-vaapi doesn't work for me either, but I'm not sure if it's because of the xvba driver or whether that would happen on intel too.

Sorry for trolling. I thought d2kx was imlpying that VAAPI could/should replace GStreamer. It's more likely a feature request though.

I wish they'd create something for Gstreamer like DXVA for DirectX. It would speed up development for many applications. Maybe if it was already available, we would have had hardware decoding for flash by now.
