Just yesterday we unleashed Phoromatic 1.0 with a horde of improvements to our remote test management system and as part of that introduced the Phoromatic Ubuntu Tracker, which benchmarks Ubuntu on a daily basis looking for performance regressions across multiple systems. Earlier today we then called out for benchmarking requests as what we should track next using our testing and execution framework (so far the likely contender is seeing how Wine's performance is evolving on a per-commit basis, but let us know what you think). mmm.... hope at least the propertary drivers are compared to each other... opensource against closed would be nice to read, but is not very representive.

I'm especially interested in a setup with a nvidia gpu which imho is best comparable to both win and mac. (its confirmed that the driver base is largely the same).

Ubuntu doesn't really have debugging code enabled even in the development process AFAIK

CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO is even used in released kernels. They aren't toggled with during the development cycle.

When will companies learn? If you ignore Linux, it will leave a huge niche open to direct competition which will then come around and bite you in the butt. Happened with GIMP, happened with Inkscape, and now it's happening with Phoronix Test Suite.
