Canada is far worse than the US. My wife is Indian and we know people who have tried to go to Canada but they lock them up and deport them wholesale but it seems never to get into the newspapers. The press just focuses on what goes on here.

To me its not only the travel ban thing, but to go to a country that can hold my smartphone and laptop at will and demand my social media passwords, right after you get out of the plane. To me, that do not look like a developer friendly place to go.
Better to choice another country that is relatively safe, have cheap plane tickets to go and none of those above border shenanigans.
