Yeah, Strawberry is great. I use its Subsonic feature to connect to the Nextcloud Music add-on. That gives me access to the my full library on Nextcloud without actually copying it to the local PC.

I should try this out, that's cool that they have a new release. But I hope the will upgrade it to Qt 6 soon. Qt 5 is not supported anymore, that's the whole reason I am saying what I am saying.

To give important context: A new developer stepped up as maintainer, polished the code and did the tagging of the release. He is there to stay, this means the project will evolve way faster than before. A true hero!
But the git version has been usable for years. I have been using Amarok in Qt 4 and Qt 5 on Arch for over a decade, also the project was never really dormant, code changes happened just really slowly.

Next thing someone's going to revive kppp? Or how about phonon-xine?

Very cool, but doesn't seem featureful or customisable enough for me to give up ol DeaDBeeF. Fantastic player, that

I wonder if this is as lightweight as audacious.

last release was July 2023 so someone already did revive it and then let it die again

Personally, I like Cantata the most. But of course that's a client for mpd, so may not be everybody's cup of tea.
And unfortunately, it's also unmaintained now.
