Oracle Linux is a supported platform for Oracle products, so we have customers using Oracle software (eg their banking stack) on Oracle hardware, so using Oracle Linux makes a lot of sense.

They also backport newer kernels to older RHEL-like releases than RHEL do (or, it certainly seems they do - although I haven't done a proper comparison) via their UEK kernels.

I also thought their support timeline is longer than RHEL's, but I might be remembering incorrectly.
