Wrong. The sidebar was invented by IBM in their Lotus Symphony office suite. Shortly after, Calligra followed suit and implemented it as well. A couple of years later, LibreOffice implemented the same sidebar. So no, not invented by LO, more like copied by LO from IBM and Calligra.
