I don't think it's nearly _that_ big to have its own conference. If it's a single event it's understandable, but if yearly - it's overkill.

This definitely feels as weird as the World Championship of Baristas.

I'm what you might want to call anti-systemd. But, I dont see any problem with those guys getting together like this. Conferences like that are really one of the funnest and best things about open source communities.

Now that a conf I'm interested in is rather close to me ... it's so expensive. Too much for a student :/ - at least when I can't be sure I've time then^^

Isn't the exactly systemd's core problem that it indeed is "_that_ big" to have a own conference?

Distrowatch.com systemd poll results (Jul 2015)

I use systemd and like it: 787 (30%)
I use systemd and dislike it: 318 (12%)
I am not using systemd and plan to use it: 111 (4%)
I am not using systemd and plan to avoid it: 1170 (44%)
              Other: 260 (10%)

              Well, that's 12% + 44% = 56% against systemd.
It's time to drop that trash ...

Are you trying to imply the fanbase is a good indicator for quality level?

Gosh, I didn't know there were only 2500 Linux users.

Well, if fanbase = users then yes. Who else should be the final judge ?
