I think LXD is a good choice for users who need the full virtual machine features. However, for most users, I think LXC is a simpler and more efficient option.

I thought that LXD now requires developers to make their contributions with Canonical's CLA. It makes sense that people who haven't done that would not be given maintainer privileges
