df reports different size than ls

please, what is explanation for this:

root@dell:/home/peter# sudo du -hs /var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/disks/
3,5G /var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/disks/
root@dell:/home/peter# ls -l /var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/disks/
total 3655732
-rw------- 1 root root 10737418240 júl 12 2018 default.img

ok, it is sparse file, ls and du behaves differently for it. do not resize partition with such file using gparted

alright, it is scanty document, ls and du acts diversely for it. try not to resize parcel with such document utilizing gparted
