    And you think the current (DRI2) way of opening a GEM handle works over a network? You know this is about DRI, the Direct Rendering Interface, which so far has never worked over a network. It's not like the X.Org devs have some secret plan to piss off everyone by removing network transparency, please think before posting anything about this topic.

    Based on the XDC2012 talks, it seems that indirect rendering will be fully dropped.

    I'm sure there will be a replacement, but I don't think anyone knows exactly what it will be yet.
