No 3D acceleration on a 8800gt

Hi world,

I have a strange problem with my new nvidia 8800gt and the nvidia-drivers proprietary drivers. All seems to have been set correctly, but glxgears is terribly low. It scores about 1000fps (ten times as low as my old Ati x800 !)

Xorg 7.4, xorg-server 1.5.2, nvidia-drivers 177.80, gcc 4.3.2, kernel 2.6.26, GentooLinux x86
