  • Linux not respecting Intel igpu OC from BIOS?

    CPU/GPU: i5-8600K/UHD 630

    MOBO: Asus TUF Z390M-PRO GAMING

    Distro: Ubuntu 21.10 (i915 driver)

    Kernel: 5.13.0-27-generic #29-Ubuntu

I have my intel igpu OCed in BIOS to 26x (1300 Mhz) from the stock of 23x (1150 Mhz).

In Windows, this works fine. GPU frequency boosts up to this and benchmark numbers (unigine/gpu-z render) reflect the higher frequency.

In Ubuntu, not so much. intel_gpu_top shows boosting only up to 1150 Mhz. All evidence in /sys shows max clocks as 1150 Mhz. Benchmarks (unigine/glmark2) show the same numbers, no matter if BIOS is set to stock or OC freq.

intel_gpu_frequency doesn't work at all (getting debugfs access denied errors; i assume the kernel has started locking things down under uefi). Also I cannot write to gt_max_freq_mhz in /sys/class; i assume for the same reasons.

Not sure what else to use to set the gpu freq.

If there's a better community/mailing list I should post this to for better support, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks
