    New MIPS products have been limited to embedded for a number of years... IP cameras are a good example, you can go to Amazon right now and get a (fairly competent actually) home security camera for about $25, and it will have a MIPS SoC from around 2013 in it, likely from Ingenic.

    Ingenic maintains their own linux+buildroot based SDK, which is far outdated (kernel 3.x), they simply don't need to support anything newer. I'm not aware of any other c hip supplier who is still producing MIPS processors that are available commercially. They even have relatively recent newer chips and SDKs including kernel 4.4.94...

    But these are small, low resource chips made for specific applications.
