I know grammar correction on the internet is a throwback to the 90s, and I'm probably sticking a meme target on my back for even mentioning it (ackchyually...), but switching less and fewer just irks me for some reason. Fewer engineers, not less engineers.

Kind of funny but very unprofessional. This is akin to me telling my 10 year old that he will never eat chicken again because he dropped a drumstick when he was 2 years. Worse, the higher ups have allowed Peter's pettiness to stand.
