I ripped our extensive Blu Ray collection to disk using MakeMKV and then I run it through ffmpeg to reencode to H.265 to save disk space and allow better wireless streaming. My current encoder machines are an AMD FX-8320 and an AMD Phenom X6 1055t. I re-encode at relatively high quality settings. The 8320 manages 2.5 fps and the 1055t manages about 1.3.

So one of these things would speed the process enormously... but I'm in no hurry, and aside from maybe some Folding@Home I can't imagine I'll use much of the processing power after this is finished.

Before anyone suggests it, I've been trying to get GPU video reencoding working with ffmpeg and VAAPI on my RX-480, but I can't get it to work.
