intelfx Displayport 2.0 is specced at 20Gbps times four lanes, so in principle it is possible. There are also industrial cables that take raw PCIe 4.0 and carry it externally - these utilize a different signal modulation than a hypothetical Thunderbolt 5 however…

Anyhow, I'd be willing to buy an expensive shielded or fiberoptic cable any time of the day if it meant getting this much external general purpose IO bandwidth.
