Hi. I am planning to buy an Envy 14 laptop with switchable graphics (Intel one and Radeon HD 5650)
Since the current open-source radeon driver doesn't seem to do much good and the ATI card with it will propably be less powerful than Intel right now (and propably for some time) I am interested in knowing how does the fglrx driver work. To be specific, I mean the tries to get it working with vga_switcheroo as seen here:
Not really much information in here. Just something like "it is being worked on"
Is it possible to monitor the progress somewhere? (At least to check if this would be possible in the future)
Thanks!

Code:
The proprietary ATI fglrx driver refuses to work because it cannot deal with switchable graphics. (...) The big problem remains the changed memory address where the firmware resides. You cannot do much about it because this is closed source. Yet some kernel developers meanwhile try to modify vga_switcheroo that it also copies the firmware when switching graphic adapters. We just need to sit back and wait whether the kernel developers are successful or will fail due to the closed source.
