Oh wow, that's an extremely well written white paper. The first hardware I ever worked on was CGA, and the last VGA, but after about half an hour of reading I was able to glean a basic overview of a modern graphics architecture.
And my goodness, it's amazing. I can still remember the fascination of seeing 16 slow moving simultaneous colors on a screen, and to think that we now have billions rendering photo realistic video is truly stunning.
So you youngsters better appreciate what you have!
And given the progress of the last three decades, I simply can't imagine what the next three will bring. I just hope I'm still around to see it
