Hopefully they'll do the right thing and not be seduced by the dark side of the force...
The Razer R&D team has stated no Linux drivers up to this point have been created as they fear some "security issues". My contact there will let me know if they learn any more information.
Now I'll pray that a generic driver will do the trick (when the Razer soundcard becomes available). I really, *really* want to get rid of this Creative POS...it's driving me insane!
I'll try out the Razer IAS with ALSA and possibly making a few modifications to see how it goes, but it doesn't look good at this point when it comes to the support.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the HP-1 can be used with other soundcards, but it is "optimized" for the AC-1. The status of the AC-1 sound card support is still unknown.
As the name implies I'm new to this forum but I have been visiting quite often. It sure is a great forum!
Since we're waiting for news on the Razer AC-1 linux compatibility, I thought I would ask you for some advice on sound cards.
I'm in the process of buying a new sound equipment for my rig. I will use it mainly for playing Quake 3 and 4, but of course also for playing music and movies. I will soon buy the Razer HP-1 headset and I also want to buy a new card. I'm currently using an Audigy 1 card.
Hopefully the Razer AC-1 works on linux and then I will buy it ASAP. Other cards I have considered are the M-audio Revolution 7.1 and the Auzentech X-meridian 7.1. In the worst case scenario I will buy Xfi of some kind.
It all comes down to how well it works on linux. I realize that it will be hard to know how well the AC-1 will perform but what about the other three cards? Will it be possible to use openal, 7.1 output and so on?
