What to hope in the upcoming future.

I hope the integration on communication among users and firmware developers in order to give them reports. I hope that dmesg program able to unveil firmware issues by terminal command matches fwupd program so to fix any issues. I hope that Gigabyte, Asrock, Asus and MSI and other manufacturers help both developers and end-users to got new pieces of firmware able to provide security and optimization. I hope that FWTS program becomes a test program to unveil issues in order to give feedback useful to set fixes.

Waiting isn't going to achieve anything. You need to email them and tell them that the next hardware you buy will be because it's on the LVFS supported device list.

For me the theoretical Dell support is not that helpful. What is needed are the actual firmware files. We have several Dell laptops that are supported but the firmware versions offered by Linux Vendor Firmware Service are sometimes a month or even more older then what can be found on the Dell homepage.
