The HP XW4600 workstations we use now ship with NVidia quadro NVS290 card. Because the X server seemed to generate a higher load then with the NVS285 used before, I ran the Xmark test. Result:
XW4600 + NVS285 + 171.06 driver => XMark 192
XW4600 + NVS290 + 171.06 driver => XMark 160
With the current stable driver (169.12) the performance difference is even much bigger, so I suspect a driver issue.
Can anyone explain why the 2D performance of the NVS290 is only 83% of that of the NVS285?
This was on a HP XW4600, Suse Linux 9.3 with kernel upgraded to 2.6.16.54.
