  • New Linux Desktop

Hello I'm building a new desktop soon and I'd like to run Linux on it. After doing a little research, I've decided on Ubuntu Linux.

The parts I'm considering buying are listed below. Any suggestions or help are welcome. If anyone knows that one of my listed parts is NOT compatible with Linux or has some form of problem, please let me know.

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

    EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor Model ADX6000CZBOX - Retail

    OCZ Gold 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2G8004GK - Retail

    Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000KSRTL 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Retail

    KINGWIN Revolution RVT-12025 120mm H.D.T. CPU Cooler - Retail

Apevia Black/Black X-Plorer ATX Mid-Tower Case with Clear Side, Fan Controller, Front USB and Firewire Port, PowerUp 800-Watt PSU

I considered going with the AMD Phenom, but I've read it doesn't play well with Linux (though the newest Beta of Unbuntu seemed to be making big improvements)

Sorry for the long post and poor formatting, I just cut and pasted from my wishlist on newegg.

    Any input is appreciated.
