Which drivers for X1900 under Open Suse 10.1

I have had a terrible experience the last time I used ati drivers for my Asus EAX1900 CF card under Open Suse 10.1. 3D accelerated graphics (games etc.) were corrupted and when I tried XGL the matters got worse. I think it might have something to do with the driver version. Which drivers would you recommend for stable operation ? I always had nvidia cards before so I'm not used to things not working this way, thanks.

thanks, finished dloading the driver, dloading open suse 10.2 now, fingers crossed everything will work this time.
