Hi there
I made few benchmarks on my laptop with differents systems as I often use each.
I hope you'll find it interesting
The FreeBSD 8.0 opt is an optimized kernel with modules managing the frequency of the cpu and a kernel with 100hz. It consumes less power but it "should" be slower.
OpenSolaris was running in 64 bit mode.
FreeBSD is a i386 version and everything was compiled from the ports.
Arch is the latest version available at the moment.
Z-zip Compression
OpenSSL
MP3 Encoding
Timed MAFFT Alignment
dcraw
Gzip Compression
I hope I'm in the right cat
