What are the chances of installing Intrepid or Cambridge on a PC with a Radeon 4350 board? Which of the (3 or 4?) drivers will work with it? If so, will disabling the X4500 on a G45 motherboard in BIOS and using the radeon instead also work, or is the nic still a blocker?

The G45 disables itself usally automatically when you put in a PCI-E card. The e1000e corruption can not happen anymore, but in most cases G45 boards don't have got Intel NICs, just the Q series.

Will either of the the recent distros install with a 4350? In console mode then X with the catalyst driver?

They should install. Catalyst 8.10 only works OOB with Ubuntu right now, but with a little work (patching) it will work with other distros.
