No offense, but why did you go to the trouble of making the remarks you made earlier (including in this post...) if you have the aforementioned opinion?

      Browser - Firefox (Konqueror)
      File browser - Nautilus (Konqueror)
      Console - Terminal (Konsole)
      Movie player - Totem (Kaffeine)
      Office - OOo (KOffice)
Etc. Or, looked at another way, the "KDE" section of Synaptic is ~90% "k", whereas the "Gnome" section is ~50% "g".

Of course, KDE is at a disadvantage as it tries to do more "itself", whereas Gnome gravitates towards providing a base for others to work on. Therefore, users can find a system which defaults to the programs they've used before. E.g., I use OOo and FF on Windows, bit difficult with KOffice and Konqueror. Of course, this may change with QT4, but not yet. Currently, with KDE, users pretty much have to dive into both an OS and programs they've never used before.

[QUOTE=glussier;5479] There's a lot of software which is not readily available in linix, pro. cad/cam software is one type of software where windows needs to be used,/QUOTE]

There are plenty of pro grade CAD/CAM packages for linux.

How much more "professional grade" can you get over programs like Pro/E?
