  • System Crash with ATI driver

Hello, sorry about the posting but it wont show.

I have installed OpenSuse 10.2 and have a ATI x800se with the newest drivers. 3d and xgl works fine, the thing is, when i try to switch between console and x11 the system crashes. I cant get a clean shutdown or exit x11 after it is started. I have a 64-bit System.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I had the similar problem before. I manage to resolve it by following the configuration suggestion from:

    HOWTO ATI Drivers

Hope this help, and good luck!

Hmm have tried to do the things in the guide, but not all things seem to be the same in my xorg.conf. I have OpenSuse 10.2 and AMD 64 CPU. My screen is NEC Multisync 20wgx2. It seems to be some problem when I change between DVI for x11 and VGA for console with the ATI 8.33.6 drivers. anyone any tips or tricks up theis sleeves.
        P.S Very new to Linux
