A lot of companies do use it apparently. Just see this post of company contributions to FreeBSD:
Discussion of *BSD operating systems and software, including but not limited to FreeBSD, DragonflyBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD. Mac OS X, GNU Hurd, and other alternative operating systems can also be discussed.

The post also serves to debunk the myth that companies like Juniper or Netflix don't contribute back to FreeBSD.

that is true. but nobody is upset when ppl release software under bsd license. but when someone wants to still other ppl code he cries that he wants them to release their code under bsd license. i.e. 'i want this software to be under bsd licence' directly translates into 'i want to steal this software'

yes, yes, everyone is urging to work on something that can be stolen by competition. that is why all companies work on linux and nobody worsks on bsd, isn't it ? and of course redhat built billion dollar business on very interesting to invest into bsd licensed project.

                    Here's the correct link:

it is in linux multiple companies cowork. in bsd everyone takes bsd code and runs away with it. they keep their additions private, which is impossible in linux.
bsd trolls miss some part of brain which makes them unable to understand simple things

you have some alternative version of history
linux did not start getting support before 1993
