  • Is it possible to force a resolution for a specific monitor?

I was reading the thread about HDTV overscan in the fglrx forum and my TV has the same problem (which I don't understand the point of - it's HDMI so it doesn't need to guess the picture size...). On top of that, the EDID reports 1920x540p as the only supported resolution which only makes things worse.

But, it turns out the screen is actually 1680x1050, and if I start X with my PC monitor (same size) and swap the cable, it works fine and doesn't even overscan.

It'd be nice if there was a way to make X (and maybe radeonfb) always use 1680x1050 for the TV and ignore what it says. Does anyone know a way to do that? I suppose it'd work if I just forced that resolution for either screen, but I figured there might be a less messy solution...
