So, my new AMD laptop came, specifically it is a MSI Bravo 17. Plus I swapped out the RAM for 64GB.
Anyway, Linux (Fedora 32) works well if you pci-stub the RX5500M and just rely on inbuilt graphics [edit: used to say drivers]. The problem is things hang with the discrete card enabled without 'nomodeset'.
Performance is great, I complied 5.7-rc6 to see if there was any change with the graphics situation, and its the quickest I've seen a kernel compile on a laptop (though that is probably not saying much). There was no change.
Fun times.
