Linux Mint 13 Through Linux Mint 17 Benchmarks

With the imminent release of Linux Mint 17 "Qiana", here are some new benchmarks of the Linux Mint 17 release candidate compared to the past four stable releases of the Ubuntu-based distribution: Linux Mint 16, Linux Mint 15, Linux Mint 14, and Linux Mint 13 while all are running the Cinnamon Desktop Environment.

From an Intel Core i7 4960X Ivy Bridge Extreme Edition system with AMD Radeon HD 4870 graphics I benchmarked these five latest series of Linux Mint using clean installs each time and sticking to the default packages/settings. The Cinnamon version of all Linux Mint versions was tested. With using the same hardware throughout all testing, here's a look at the key package information and other information about the Linux Mint installations from this system with six physical CPU cores plus Hyper Threading:

Benchmarking across all five releases of Linux Mint was done using the Phoronix Test Suite open-source benchmarking software.
