Intel Core i5 750, Core i7 870 Linux Benchmarks

Moving on to John The Ripper and measuring the traditional DES performance, the Core i7 920 came out on top followed by the AMD Phenom II X3 710 and then the Core i7 820 and lastly the Core i5 750.

The AMD Phenom II X3 pulled back into second place with the MD5 performance within John The Ripper. The Bloomfield Core i7 920 stayed in first.

Surprisingly, the Phenom II X3 710 actually outperformed the Core i7 920 when it came to the Blowfish performance within John The Ripper, where AMD processors have a strong upper-hand. The AMD processor was faster than the Core i7 920 by about 7% and about 75% faster than the Core i7 870.
