The Linux Evolution For Intel Haswell's Performance
The computational tests have less of an impact in moving from the Linux 3.8 to Linux 3.10 kernel and upgrading from GCC 4.7 to GCC 4.8, but as shown in this article, the graphics performance makes a big difference with the kernel upgrade paired with Mesa 9.2. While there's a big improvement already -- in some cases twice the performance over stock Ubuntu 13.04 -- there's still more room to improve in competing with the Intel Windows OpenGL driver and exploiting the full potential of the Haswell hardware.
