Within the multi-threaded Radiance imaging system benchmark, the Core i7 CPUs were faster while the i7-8086K at stock speeds was only slightly faster than the i7-8700K until overclocked.

In the Cryptsetup crypto benchmark, the Intel Coffeelake CPUs remained much faster than the AMD competition. The i7-8086K at stock speeds was just 6% faster than the i7-8700K.

The Intel CPUs were also ahead of the AMD Ryzen CPUs with the OpenSSL performance, a workload where traditionally AMD CPUs had quite an advantage.

When running some single-threaded benchmarks of PostgreSQL, the Intel Coffeelake CPUs are significantly out in front of the Ryzen CPUs... The single-threaded PostgreSQL performance is about only useful if running your own personal development server with really no activity, so here is the multi-threaded PostgreSQL numbers:

With the multi-threaded PostgreSQL performance putting a more normal load on the processors, the Zen+ and Coffeelake performance were in line with each other.
