Intel Core i7 8086K Linux Performance

In the test timing how long it takes to compile the default Linux x86_64 kernel, the Ryzen 7 2700X with its sixteen threads came out ahead of the Intel CPUs albeit by a slim margin.

But in the timed GCC compilation benchmark, even when automatically set so the GCC job count matches the number of available CPU threads, the Intel compilation performance was greater with the Coffeelake CPUs.

In the heavily-threaded C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracer benchmark, the eight-core Ryzen 7 CPUs understandably come out ahead.

That's also the case for the Blender 3D modeling software when running on the CPU without any GPGPU assistance.
