The AMD FirePro V5800 goes with a much larger cooler than the V3800, but it is not nearly as big as the FirePro V8800, and the V5800 only requires one expansion slot. This active cooling solution for keeping cool the ATI Juniper XT covers most of the PCB except for around the CrossFire connectors and the display connections. This too was a very quiet stock heatsink/fan.

To some surprise, the FirePro V5800 does not require an external 6-pin PCI Express power connection, but the TDP for this mid-range graphics card is 74 Watts. The display connectors include two DisplayPort and one DVI-D. This is while the FirePro V8800 sports four DisplayPort connections plus a Stereoscopic output.

The GDDR5 memory ICs used by the AMD FirePro V5800 were marked Hynix H5GQ1H24AFR T2C 951A. The H5GQ1H24AFR-T2C part is rated to operate at 1.25GHz. However, the FirePro V5800 memory was clocked at 1000MHz. The Juniper XT core was clocked at 690MHz. While there are CrossFire connectors on the V5800, the proprietary Linux driver is currently limited to using two AMD Radeon/FirePro graphics cards in this multi-GPU rendering mode.
