Would be interesting to see a news post on this: tip4commit.com
I was pleasantly surprised this morning, getting an email that there was a tip waiting for me at this site, having never heard of it before. It was founded in Oct 2013, and seems like an interesting approach in handling open-source project donations. Every commit author gets 1% of the total tipped to that project.
Authors can opt out, and if they don't collect the tip, it gets returned to the project's total after 30 days.
