  • Clocking Phenom independently in Linux

Here's the fun question: is there any way to actually clock the Phenom independent in Linux? The CPU is capable of it, but I want to be able to say, selectively Cool'n'Quiet 3 out of the 4 core, especially if I could lock the 3 cores in the slowest settings possible.

Reason why I ask is doing so would create a heterogeneous system (i.e. not all core performs the same), and may prove to be useful for research. However, I need some way to control the clockspeed of the cores.

Bonus if any of you have a board that the BIOS could control the clock speed independently per core. I'm getting a vibe that OverDrive would not be useful because its settings won't persist through a reboot, and AOD is a Windows app.

On my AM2 board I can set /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu[0-4]/cpufreq/ independently, i.e. run some cores with the 'performance' governor, others with the 'ondemand' governor, etc? An AM2+ board would provide me with more than 2 frequency values.
