  • Quake 4 texture corruption problem on fglrx

    Hi,

    Here's the problem in pictures:

Picture 1: this is the opening scene of the blown up body floating through space in the beginning of the game

Picture 2: this is the first part of the game where you take control of your character

What graphics card and driver version are you using?

whoops, pressed 'send' accidentally without finishing the post :-)

I have a laptop with on-board ATI graphics. lspci says:

      Code:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS485 [Radeon Xpress 1100 IGP] (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Unknown device 010f
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 255, IRQ 22
              Memory at c8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M]
              I/O ports at 9000 [size=256]
              Memory at c0100000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at c0120000 [disabled] [size=128K]
              Capabilities: <access denied>
      /var/log/Xorg.0.log says:

      Code:
(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon Xpress Series" (Chipset = 0x5975)
      (--) fglrx(0): (PciSubVendor = 0x1025, PciSubDevice = 0x010f)
(--) fglrx(0): board vendor info: third party graphics adapter - NOT original ATI
      (--) fglrx(0): Linear framebuffer (phys) at 0xc8000000
      (--) fglrx(0): MMIO registers at 0xc0100000
Note that in Xorg.0.log I also get a:
      Code:
(EE) AIGLX error: dlsym for __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 failed (/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727)
but I read somewhere that this doesn't matter.

glxgears works. fglrxinfo says the right things. glxinfo says 'direct rendering: Yes'.

I've allocated 128MB of system memory for the video RAM.

      Um... I think that's it.

      driver version is 8.37.6

      Thanks
