  • Error when attempting to run ETQW test

    I have installed the ETQW test. When I try to run it all the console messages look normal until:

    ********************
    FATAL ERROR: Couldn't load fs.chk
    ********************
    --------------- BSE Shutdown ----------------
    ---------------------------------------------
    Shutting down SDL subsystem
    idRenderSystem::Shutdown()
    Sys_Error: Couldn't load fs.chk

    After this it just proceeds to the next iteration of the test, without actually running the game.

    I have searched around the official ETQW forum and a various other sites and found a few mentions of this, but no useful answers. The closest I found was a reply about moving files from one directory to another in Gentoo after updating ebuilds, but I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 beta, which has a completely different directory structure.

    Any help solving this would be much appreciated.

    What version of PTS are you running? If not Git, try Git.

      And do you have a legit copy of ET:QW that you copied over as is said during the install? Otherwise try etqw-demo.

        Running Phoronix Test Suite v2.0.0 (SANDTORG).

        I don't recall any messages during the install about copying over a legit copy of ET:QW. It just downloaded the game and installed it, which was a bit of a surprise, given the [VERIFIED, RETAIL] tag in list-tests. But I can fully understand if one then needs to copy over some kind of encrypted licence key or something from a legit install of the game.

        I'll remove it and try etqw-demo.
