Did you just clone the git repo to /lib/firmware directly? That's not how you install the git repo. You need to use the copy-firmware.sh script.

Sorry guys, I didn't have much choice. I would have been okay with leaving the firmware on Nvidia's github, but some distros insist on grabbing firmware...
